Some Updates!

We are in the midst of updating this site, now that the dust is settling down — Literally. Renovation works on our new abode is finally complete, and we have moved on to a greater new phase — Complete with new classrooms (No more camping in students’  studies or living rooms), new equipment (A photocopier!  No more ‘I forgot my worksheets!’ Sweet!), new furniture (No more chairs that pinches or fall apart) and a wonderful view.

Lessons are now in full swing. On top of conducting lessons, the never-ending grading of assignments, we took on a few temporary admin staffs and collaborated with a few other tutors to produce even more relevant and targeted materials. Before we realised it, Term 1 is long gone and MYE and SA1 are looming.

As a result of our expansion to Woodlands and also working to accommodate our current students in Sembawang, we have neglected updating this site. There are still some limited slots for both Tutors in AY2016. We respond to requests on the “Request” widget and emails sent CramTutors@gmail.com or to calls .

Changes in Group Tuition Schedule

Prospective Students and Parents,

Thank you for your support and interest in the Group Tuition Schedule.

We regret to inform you that there have been multiple changes in the schedule posted in the previous post, as a result of us changing the tuition sessions to better gel with our current students’ schedules.

Please call/SMS or email us for the latest schedule. Alternatively, you can always drop an enquiry in our user-friendly web form.

If you are interested, you can also form your own group of three if your child has classmates or friends who need tuition, then contact us to see if we can commit. Familiarity, in our opinion does not breed contempt (as opposed to the common saying) but rather, we would make use of it to encourage friendly competition which would help all the students in the group progress even further.

Happy New Year, and may 2013 bring better academic success for your child or yourself.

Don’t Hope. Guarantee it.

2013 is coming. Will you do better this year? Or will you be hoping to improve next year?

Hard truth -> It is impossible to improve without concrete effort.

Make it happen.

Days and times of the different tuition sessions.

Effects of overcrowding

We grew some edible herbs on our sunny window sill to brighten our room and also in the hope that we can see some interesting things to share with all of you.

The results were indeed interesting! We planted the plants too closely together and it led to over crowding. Overcrowding causes competition among the plants and the plants will try to out grow each other.

The results, long thin stems and all trying to grow towards the direction of the sunlight.

Also, despite their relatively benign appearances, plants are competitive and will exploit any advantage they have to out grow the competition.

Look at how the taller plants spread out their leaves to starve the shorter ones from receiving sunlight!

September 2012 School Holidays!

Dear Parents,

As you are aware, the September school holidays are soon approaching. As our tutors have rather tight schedules, it is best to book their time early in order to avoid disappointment.

For instance, Cheng Hui only have 4 remaining weekday mornings up for grabs.

Please call them early or try to submit a request through our handy web form.

The caterpillar on my corridor

Hey hey,

Many of you have learnt that the life cycle of a caterpillar starts from an egg, goes on to the larvae stage, then the pupa stage and finally becomes a butterfly. Yet, few of you would have probably seen the actual process.

20120524-114221.jpg

I was blessed with such an opportunity recently, when we realized that our plant was being ravaged by caterpillars. Against all common gardening sense, we decided to pursue science.

First of all, let’s introduce Greenie(小绿) our main artiste for this short production!

20120524-114603.jpg

The caterpillar is the larvae stage in the life cycle of a butterfly. As you can see, it is perfectly camouflaged against the background of leaves! As the caterpillar eats the leaves, it will also excrete caterpoop. Lots of it.

20120524-121636.jpg

The caterpillar will then transform into the larvae phase. As you can see, mimicry is done to protect it from predators. In this case it is pretending to be a young leaf. As it metamorphorsize, it’ll also change colour.

It’ll eventually become an adult and fly away. We are trying to catch one of Greenie’s brother or sister(cannot tell the difference between male or female) when it emerges! Wish us luck!
